The unit provides information about evaluation and testing. It is essential to assess students' level before their course begins and keep tabs on students' progress. Good assessment can direct students' learning and help them to become more effective and motivated lerners. One of the most common method of assessment is testing. It is used to determine student's knowledge and mastery of skills, indentify gaps and tailor teaching approach.Unit 13 deals with the teaching of pronunciation and phonology. It covers intonation, stress and pronunciation, with a detailed look at the Phonemic Alphabet and articulation. I found the latter half of this unit hard to take in and remember: that is the phonemic alphabet and the many technical words associated with sound production. I will certainly have to revisit these areas! I always find the sections on teaching techniques valuable.
