This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The phonology of English is completely different than the phonology of Finnish. By now I definitely learnt the most even though I consider pronouncing English quite well. The meaning of a sentence can vary a lot depending on how we say it and what kind of manners we use. I also learnt a bunch of good teaching techniques and got to revise the phonemic alphabet.I was particularly confused a struggled with the section on perusal verbs. I'll need to do more individual work on mastering that topic. I found the use of jargon difficult but interesting in terms of seeing where I was able to retain information and what I didn't know. I enjoyed the modal auxiliary verbs and learning about that. It was interesting and useful.
