The productive skills are as essential as receptive. But the students seem to be slightly more motivated to perform the first rather than the second. I definitely find productive skills more difficult to teach, especially writing as it is often ignored in state schools and most people often keep this attitude until I teach them how fun and interesting it can be. This lesson has given some good ideas for reflecting on my writing teaching.This is another section where it is much easier to explain, ?this is just the way we do it?, then to being able to remember the reasons (or rules) in why we conjugate the way that we do. As a native speaker, I don?t recall ever being taught specific rules in why we speak or write the way we do. We always just kind of did it that way and as you advance through the language you pick up what sounds or looks right and what doesn?t.
