Unit 11 covered teaching receptive skills, which are reading and listening. I learned that the reasons for reading and listening can be for a purpose; eg. reading the manual for a new radio or for entertainment; eg. listening to the new radio. I also gained more knowledge about the different specialist skills for readers and listener, about potential problems and how to avoid them and how to select topics, texts and tasks, etc.This has been a more difficult unit to take in, getting used to reported sentences and direct speech sentences. I am confident I have them figured out. The time expressions were very interesting, something I myself wasn't aware of when reporting a \"time of day\" and so forth. It would take a few lessons at the least to fully explain and teach this unit but I think students would really benefit from the information it contains.
