I must admit that the prospect of being able to choose, or influence the choice of, class materials hadn't occurred to me. While I haven't taught English Language classes before this, my experiences in teaching have always been with use of already-selected materials. However, this unit certainly showed me that one should always adapt materials to the needs of the students. The techniques shown will become invaluable, I'm sure.This unit covered appropriate and effective classroom management. From seating arrangement to amount of eye contact to how often and when to use specific students' names, subtle variance matters and will affect the outcome of a lesson. Of particular interest to me was how different groupings of students mattered to each activity and that some are better than others for particular lessons, with consideration to class demographics.
