I learned how to name and explain the different functions of words in the English language. Having a basic knowledge of the Dutch grammar helped me to understand and learn more about the English language. There are a lot of things in language that I do on my instinct, I simply don't think about the 'why'. When you are in front of a class, you obviously cannot explain a language with a 'just follow your instinct'.An effective teacher should consider the teaching of pronunciation an integral part of teaching English. In this lesson, I have learnt about stress, rhythm, intonation and the International Phonetic Alphabet; their definitions, elements and techniques of teaching them. By studying and understanding this lesson, I should not make the mistake of avoiding this important but often neglected aspect of teaching English
