The unit covers the advantages and disadvantages in using coursebooks and self-developed materials. After reading the unit thoroughly, teachers will be able to see the importance of combining both teaching materials in their classes. Self-created materials can supplement and can add up the activities that can help the students have a more fun and suitable materials for their classes and study goals.From this unit I learnt about receptive skills, reading and writing. More specifically how we read and listen, what kind of problems can we have and I learnt the outline of of a typical receptive skills lesson. In my opinion this unit was very interesting, because everything was explained with details how our minds work and why do they work this way, for example, why do we used scanning or skimming.
