I can completely understand why, active and passive voices, phrasal verbs and clauses are one of the toughest topics to learn for a ESL students. I strongly believe that when a student reaches this level, means that he has gone through lots of English lessons. Fortunately, after having read the easy explanation given by unit 18, I can think of some really useful ideas that can help students get through these ?scary? topics.This unit discusses speaking/writing (including games), difference between accuracy and fluency activities/which is more important, speaking activities (controlled, guided, creative communication, encouraging students to speak, techniques to encourage interaction). It also gives a typical free/creative speaking activity lesson example, guidelines for doing so, writing skills (handwriting, spelling, layout/punctuation)and games.
