This unit was introducing receptive skills and how both listening and reading are equally important. This unit highlighted how important the topic is when engaging students, and how the order of teaching can greatly affect the moral of the classroom. It is important to realize that the teacher should not only teach what they are interested in, but in fact teach material that interests the students so they will be more engaged in learning.This unit contained more general information about teaching receptive skills. Receptive skills are extremely important and can be used for entertainment or learning about things. For example, I can listen to an audiobook for fun or I can listen to a radio program about traffic in the area. Each situation requires unique teaching to address the issues with it. Receptive skills are just as important as communicating via writing or speaking.
