Speaking and writing are skills used to communicate. Communication is based on different reasons: communicative purpose, something to communicate, something to listen to or something someone is interested in. Accuracy and fluency activities are concentrated on producing correct language and allowing the students to experiment and be creative with the language.This really helped me to see pronunciation and articulation in a new light. I had never really taken notice of the phonemic symbols in the dictionary, but I can see how helpful they are to non-native English speakers. I see that as an answer to the problem of spelling and pronunciation, which is a major problem in the English language, as it is not phonetic.
