In this unit, I have found out that to learn a new language, one should master four main skills, which are, in their turn, divided into two categories - receptive skills (i.e. reading and listening) and productive skills (writing and speaking). I have also understood that there is no more or less important skill, as, to speak fluently, one needs to develop all four sets that go hand and hand and cannot exist one without the other.I learned many important things from this unit. First of all, I learned which two skills are called receptive skills and which two skills are called productive skills. I learned about the reasons for reading or listening, and how we read and listen. I also learned problems with listening and reading, and how to overcome the problems by pre-teaching vocabularies or carefully selecting texts or creating interest prior to the lesson.
