This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was a valuable unit because it taught how to best set up a classroom, not only physically, but psychologically also. Giving me an overview of how to best teach is very important. I hadn't really thought about how a classroom set up can affect how a person learns. One interesting thing ,too, was how much a teacher should be present and how to pull participation out of the students in a comfortable way. This unit reviewed how to teach grammar and vocabulary very broadly. It discussed many different activities for the engage, study, and activate periods. I want to think of more ways to adapt this to my classrooms. In my classes, there is a heavy emphasis on student talking time and we do not explicitly review grammar, so I will think of some ways to incorporate these into my (mostly) talking-based lessons.
