Unit 11 defined the two main types of receptive skills (reading and listening) and provided various strategies for teaching these more effectively. The reading techniques, including skimming and scanning, were particularly useful to me as many of my students struggle with comprehension exercises. The listening section was also valuable. After completing this unit, I feel better prepared to teach language input skills to my classes in Japan.This unit is about how to teach a new language: vocabulary, grammar and functions.
The vocabulary is very important in the early stage so I learned how to select the vocabulary, what they need to know about it and techniques. Grammar are determined by the the level and the students need to know the meaning, usages, forms and how to write and speak.
