This lesson was great because it clearly explain receptive skills and how they're taught in a classroom setting. These are skills that we use everyday, but it may become second nature when someone is learning another language. It's also helpful to know when someone is grading materials. It's great to be able to take these things into consideration when considering different teaching strategies.Pronunciation working with the Phonetic Alphabet makes the lesson very interesting.
It might look like the teacher/learner are being lazy but when you pronounce a word it makes more sense to the students (even if the spelling is incorrect). After the pronunciation is correct then the spelling will follow easily. Intonation on some words change the meaning of the whole sentence in some ways.
