In this unit I learned that the teachers attitude is huge when setting the feel of a class. If the teacher seems impatient or like they don't wan to be there, the students are less likely to participate. Also, as a teacher it is important to know whether or not the students understand the instructions. If they do not understand the instructions their participation will go down.Teaching speaking and writing are often hard to teach extensively together; I think most students are more interested in speaking than writing. I think as a native speaker students find my presence less useful for teaching writing. However in many countries many students certainly need to learn writing and reading comprehension for standardized tests in high school and college.
