This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit touched on teaching vocabulary using the engage-study-active method. It went into more detail by providing which typical ESA lesson is used (patchwork, boomerang, straight arrow) depending on if you are teaching new vocabulary, language structures or language functions. I learnt a lot about the best way to help a student learn and retain the information I'm teaching them in regards to vocabulary.Going trough Unit 3 of the TEFL course I have learned that as a teacher it is important to plan and identify the aims of the lesson by pinpointing the language items and skills that I want my students to improve by the end of the class. It is important to keep the students motivated, exposed to the language and to give them opportunities to use it by applying the three stages of Engage, Study and Activate.
