A bit more complex, but interesting unit. I think ( if given the time) teaching speech is very important and valuable to students, but I'm not convinced by the method of phonetic script. In my experience students find this very confusing. The other sections of this unit which looked at intonation, stress, etc. contained useful example exercises and teaching strategies.I think this unit was very helpful because it showed me how to specifically structure lessons with examples. I learned how to use the different phases of ENGAGE, STUDY, and ACTIVATE in the lesson plans and how to incorporate grammar into activities in a more active way. I liked how they didn't seem too structured and yet gave a good overview and guideline to work from.
