Unit 18 discussed modals, passive voice, and phrasal verbs. Passive voice and phrasal verbs are particularly difficult for students to understand. In respect to phrasal verbs, teachers should use them occasionally in natural conversation. In passive voice the one doing the action is not that important. I'm particularly thankful for the chart provided for modal auxiliary verbs. This will be very helpful for my future students.This unit refers to the usage of modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Different modal aux verbs have different uses and vary from formal to informal. Changes of forms in different tenses should also be noticed. Passive voice, which ignores the perfomer of the action, may result in confusion in combination of tenses, thus that's where the difficulty lies. Relative clauses and phrasal verbs are easy to distinguish in each parts.
