In this unit we learn how to teach receptive skills- reading and listening. The important skills are listed, like predictive skills, detailed information, scanning or skimming. It is very useful to know, as teachers we should be aware of them. We should teach our students all the skills, guide them how to do it in foreign language. I also found out what topics, tasks and language we should use to teach receptive skills.This section covered the different advantages and disadvantages of course materials, more specifically with course books. It talked about the important of using a variety of teaching materials and not to just rely solely on the course book. I learned that it is important to take many things into consideration when picking out a course book, as well as many teachers don't get the opportunity to choose their course book.
