This unit went over the basics of lesson planning in an ESL classroom. It discussed the multiple parts that make up a successful lesson plan and described each in detail. It also provided examples of lesson plans and activities for stages of those plans. Self-evaluation or monitoring one's lessons was also briefly discussed, and a sample self-evaluation form was provided. Finally, planning a sequence of lessons, and the possible problems that need to be addressed, was discussed in detail. The unit ended with more sample activities for the various phases, which were the most useful part of the unit (following the lesson plan structure), as they allow for an understanding of how a lesson may be carried out for inexperienced teachers.
