The future tense is complicated and difficult to remember. This unit has 7 tenses. The 'be going + infinitive' e.g. 'It is going to rain later' and the 'present continuous' e.g. 'I am meeting her for coffee tomorrow' are the most commonly used.
These tenses need a lot of practice but students may be able to use them correctly without being able to identify the name of the tense.I think the receptive skills are important because these skills allow students to access broader parts of the language. Students may learn to speak a language by actually speaking it aloud, but they learn most of the language by listening to it and reading it. Having a solid framework for how to engage these skills ultimately allows students to access the language on their own.
