Unit 3, titled Managing Classes, discussed the role a teacher must fill in terms of interacting with their students to control the class. First, the unit discussed body language that is important for teachers to be aware of, such as eye contact and making gestures. The unit then went on to discuss the appropriate time to use student's names, as well as the effectiveness of different grouping styles. Next, the pros and cons of different seating arrangements within the classes was discussed. This included explaining the appropriate places for a teacher to stand in order to maintain control over the class. Finally, the unit covered the value of teacher talk time compared to student talk time, as well as discipline within the classroom.
