I have learnt some key changes of time expressions, pronouns and verbs in the reporting direct speech. I admit that it is quite tricky to report the tenses of direct speeches but direct and reported speeches are integral part of our everyday communication hence I must concentrate on them and use some of the teaching ideas to convey conditionals and reported speeches to my students.In this unit, I have learned that modal auxiliary verbs can have similar meaning, they can still make a notable difference in a sentence. Also, I have learned that in the passive voice the subject is the focus of the sentence but in the active voice the Agent is the focus of the sentence. Furthermore, I have learned that dependent clauses are dependent on the independent clauses.
