This unit is all about teaching English as a new language. In perspective, the English language is very broad and hence it is impossible to teach everything in class; this unit highlights how a teacher could prioritize what to teach for example regarding vocabulary, grammar and language function and hence organise new material for efficient lesson delivery and to benefit the learner.This unit reviewed the parts of speech used in building sentences. It dissected the basics of verbs, nouns, articles, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, and prepositions. I am already familiar with these parts of speech, but this Unit served as an effective refresher course. It broke everything down and taught me how it can be best explained to a student in a simple and understandable way.
