The content of this unit focuses on the development of a lesson using course materials. It defines the difference between authentic materials and created materials. It describes situations where the use of these materials would be beneficial and also how to be selective of which is the most appropriate. After completing this unit I can now judge which type of material is most beneficial to my students.In this unit i learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of using course books in lessons. I learnt when to use them and when not to, when I should adapt parts of it to fit the students needs, supplement parts of it, or omit parts all together. I found this unit useful as it stressed the importance of not over using a course book, as it would make the lesson predictable and boring for the students.
