This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was about how sounds are pronounced in the English language, how to write down the pronunciation of words using the phonemic alphabet, and how to best help students improve their pronunciation. There was a lot of unfamiliar vocabulary in this unit, especially in the articulation section. The phonemic alphabet was also something I hadn't studied much before. So while I learned a lot of new things it was a little overwhelming and I'll probably need to review all the new information frequently in order to remember it. It's hard to pick apart and analyze something like pronunciation that I've been doing automatically my whole life, but understanding how the sounds are made will certainly make explaining them to students easier.
