Unit 20 is about troubleshooting. It covers some of the most common problems that teachers encounter in an EFL classroom and how to deal with them. I’ve learnt different ways how to handle these problems. When faced with new students, during my first lesson, it’s important to establish rapport between students and to find out things about the students, as well as their needs and English level. Warmers are helpful to get the students motivated and use English. Different techniques and approach were also discussed in teaching multi-level classes, large classes and reluctant students. Tips/suggestions on situations where students use their native language and are having difficulties with listening activity were also explained.
