The two productive skills are speaking and writing. Speaking has two general activities, accuracy and fluency. Accuracy concentrated on producing correct language, and is usually part of the study phase and fluency concentrates on allowing the students to be creative and experiment and is part of the activate phase. Speaking activities in the classroom are controlled, guided and creative communication. Students need to be encouraged to speak, which can be done with pair and group work and making speaking activities purposeful. Writing skills can be a challenge if the students first language is vastly different than English. Creative writing should be encouraged as students are more engaged and they can be proud of their finished work.
