I was interested in this unit’s topic (course books and lesson materials) because I think that I will be using a mix of both course books and my own created materials in my future teaching program. I know that when I thought about teaching before this course, I was definitely tempted to go the easy route and solely depend on the course book for everything. However, I understand how unproductive that could potentially be in terms of engaging with my students and providing relevant and interesting course material for them. In order to be an effective teacher, I need to learn when and how to use the course book along with authentic materials and my own created materials in order to achieve the language objectives set for my students.
