In this unit I gained some insights as to the importance of different levels of testing and how schools gauge the level of the student. It would be benefaction for the teacher to have various diagnostic tests to conduct at the beginning of the course to determine the strengths and weaknesses of their students. In my opinion it is very important to know where the student stands in terms of knowledge of the English language so that all improvements can be made. It is understandable though that in a classroom there might be students with different levels of understanding and knowledge within the same language grade and that is where teachers meet the challenge of catering to everyone's needs without compromising the objective of the lesson.
