This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I find creating a lesson plan to be useful. Having a lesson plan helps you keep the class organized, give you structure so that it may flow more easily, and provide record of what has been taught. It allows for teachers to review their own work and improve on weaknesses in their teaching style. It also makes it easier for substitutes to know where the students are at in the course if one is needed. There are several things to keep in mind when creating a lesson plan: keep it simple, don’t script the lesson, maintain the structure, write the anticipated time for activities, maintain a variety of activities, and keep it flexible. Overall the main goal with lesson planning is to be organized and use it as a guide and not a rigid itinerary.
