Lesson planning is a vital component of being an effective teacher. It allows us to create a logical sequence for the lesson that we can refer to in the middle of a class, but it doesn’t stop us of being flexible depending on the needs of the students. Additionally, we can keep a record of our classes and can be used for another teacher to cover us in any unpredictable situation.
Planning lessons gives the opportunity to think about the objectives we would like students to achieve, and the different activities we will use to accomplish those objectives, the material and aids needed, how long each activity will take, how students should be grouped, etc. This allow to create a balanced lesson that will be more meaningful to the students.
