The information taught in this unit is more or less the reason I chose to take this course in the first place. It's the nuts and bolts of how English works and is constructed that I hope to brush up on, and become better at teaching. There are several rules for certain types of words (ex. no possessive pronouns ever contain an apostrophe) that I either never learned properly, or had long since forgotten. Another example of something I took away from this unit is the many different categories of adverbs. Up to this point, I honestly wasn't aware of roughly half the adverbs used in daily conversation. My own personal adverb list was way too short and incomplete. But, I can honestly say I learned something from every single category in this unit!
