This unit is very insightful because it describes the characteristics that both teachers and students need to have in order to be successful. Since I am going to be an english teacher in China, I loved how the unit described the importance of taking culture into account when preparing lessons and engaging students. In order to address needs, and teach the students effectively, teachers need to have skills in cross cultural communication and audience analysis. As a teacher in training, one thing that stood out to me is that you don't always have to be the center of attention in the classroom, and that through other activities and alternative teaching methods, students can have quality lessons, without having someone talk to them 90% of the time.
