In Unit 9 we looked at lesson planning. Lesson plans serve a variety of purposes, such as creating a record of lesson content, providing a reference for a teacher to follow during the lesson, and organizing the lesson into timed phases. There are many kinds of information that should be included in a lesson plan, including the student objectives, teacher's personal aims, materials needed, procedure, timing, language point, type of interaction, et cetera. A lesson plan should also allow for flexibility to that teachers can adapt the lesson to better suit the students if unexpected issues occur while teaching. A lesson plan does not have to include every detail of what the teacher will say and do, but provide a simple and easy-to-follow guideline.
