I've learned a lot in this unit about the way we pronounce and stress words in the English language. I imagine that teaching pronunciation can depend a lot on what native language students speak. Some languages will have very similar letters and pronunciation in many areas to english and I imagine that the pronunciation that students will struggle with would depend on their native language. I imagine that as a teacher I will have to gauge which areas of pronunciation my students struggle with and then build pronunciation into lessons around those particular struggles with English. This unit has also highlighted to me how different spoken english is pronounced from written english. I imagine this would be difficult to explain to beginner students.
