There are four things that learners need to do with new language: be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how it is constructed, and be able to practise and produce it. In teaching and learning a new language, grammar is often said to be the tree trunk and branches of a language while vocabulary and functions are the leaves that add beauty and variety. Some lessons may include new grammar, vocabulary, and functions. ESA - Engage, Study, and Activate must be applied to introduce the new language.
As an effective teacher, I will know the structure of ESA which is suitable for my English language class. To make sure learners understand English language during my lessons, I must pay attention to grammar, vocabulary, and functions.
