This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned how to manage a classroom. Several topics were covered, such as the various positions of a teacher (when to stand, sit, etc.), how to effectively seat students (arranging the classroom), do's and don't's of discipline, and the best way to give students instructions. One of my biggest concerns in teaching is losing my students' attention by looking away for too long (i.e. writing on the black/white board). I found the suggested ideas to be informative, especially the idea to write on the board prior to class, but covering it until needed. Overall, I found this lesson to be a great foundation piece for classroom management. Although I understand that it'll take a while before I'm completely comfortable managing my own class.
