The production phase of language learning consists of speaking and writing skills. Accuracy is achieved through memorization of new vocabulary and grammar rules. Fluency is achieved through verbal usage of the studied material. Writing skills can be more formal and are influenced by the purpose of the written material. Speaking skills exhibit greater ease of understanding as the interactions elicit more or less information to achieve the exchange of information. Writing skills are less tractable in this regards as the message is formally recorded in print and redactions and corrections are more difficult. In addition spelling and punctuation skills are necessary in English whereas the students' mother languages may or may not stress these rules.
