In this unit, I learned about various methods that teachers that can be used in a lesson plan and tailor around the level of the students and the types of students they are. These methods include traditional audio-lingual and grammar-translation methods, and more modern ones, such as the silent way community language learning. The unit largely focused on one method called the Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) method, which are stages that can be implemented in whatever order necessary as long as it starts with the Engage stage and ends with the Activate stage. It also gave many examples as to what activities are best utilized in which stage, which I thought was particularly useful because it made it more easy to imagine what a full lesson could be like.
