I feel this unit was useful in the sense where you are starting to introduce words to your class. You want to make sure they are challenged but still it isn't below or above the level they are on. You want to keep them interested and keep them confident. You want to slowly introduce to them the different skills of reading and listening to show that they don't always have to read a whole section if they are able to find key words. I feel like when teaching Receptive Skills, Patchwork ESA would be the most effective. I feel that they would need a lot of feed back and you would want to test the skills to make sure they are comprehending by doing pair work and worksheets to see what everyone may be getting from something they are listening to or reading.
