In this unit I learned about how to study this course. I found out that the target group is English teachers who wish to specialise in the teaching of younger learners, and that the various objectives of this course include understanding industry terminology, making a syllabus, knowing how to make lesson materials and knowing the role of an English teacher for young learners. This unit introduced some key terminology, and defined a young learner as someone between the age of 5 and 13. I learned that employment prospects are good for teachers, and can involve teaching at a language school, state school or one-to-one, though salaries vary depending on the country. This unit suggested that 25 contact hours a week was a reasonable maximum amount to teach.
