This unit contained essential information about parts of speech in English, including nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. While I previously had some knowledge of English grammar, this unit made me realize I had much to learn, and that being a native speaker doesn't necessarily mean that I fully understand how English works. For example, I was unaware of the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs. Now I know that transitive verbs are directly followed by an object, while intransitive verbs stand alone and cannot be followed by an object. Additionally, while there are some rules to conjugating verbs in English, there are many irregular verbs which do not follow the regular pattern.
