Unit 12 focuses on writing an speaking skills which are considered to be productive. I learned that accuracy and fluency are both essential but that different stages focus on different skills therefore correction need to be made according to the result desired. The study phase focuses on accuracy whereas the activate phase focuses on fluency. There are three basic types of activities including controlled (study) in which the teacher helps during structured activities, guided (study/activate), and creative (activate) which allows for more freedom within a limited structure. It is important to create interest and make sure that the students have the language knowledge necessary. Working in pairs or groups allows for student interaction and reduces stress.
