This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit provides us with several teaching methodologies, some of which are already outdated and many of which are still widely practiced. The approach espoused in this unit is the Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) approach. This involves getting the students interested at the beginning of the lesson, and then studying the concepts that will be introduced and discussed during the lesson itself. Finally, students are given a chance to practice what they learn through different activities. I believe this is a very effective way of teaching, as it helps students really learn the material, while keeping up their interest at the same time. It is similar to the Presentation, Practice, and Production method, except that the ESA method is more flexible and engaging.
