This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit explores modal auxiliary verbs, their uses and their formation. We then reflect on some common problems that they can provoke for learners of English. There can for example be confusion with the third person singular formation, as modal auxiliary verbs do not change as other verbs do. We then go on to look at the passive voice, which is a way of expressing something when the emphasis is shifted from the agent to the subject of a sentence. We look at how to form these sentences and some common student mistakes. We then go on to look at relative clauses and phrasal verbs. From this unit I feel I have learnt more about certain aspects of English grammar and how they function, and also what possible problems they could pose to learners of English.
