This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit I learned about various teaching methodologies, such as the grammar-translation method, task-based learning, and the engage-study-activate method. I learned that the focus on this ITTT course will be the Engage, Study, Activate method created by Jeremy Harmer. The stages of the ESA method were described in detail with specific examples of techniques such as elicitation, error correction, and giving feedback. Another point that was made in the lesson was that the ESA stages can be ordered in other patterns, such as a boomerang pattern or a patchwork pattern. The point is to start with engaging students and finish with an activation activity. This lesson also contained a list of useful games and activities to prompt students to start speaking.
