I feel that I have learned a lot during my first TEFL course. Reflecting upon this process has been helpful. One aspect of this journey that I might have handled differently is the testing. Being a teacher, I am concerned about my retention and understanding of the material. I used the unit tests as a formative assessment to identify my strengths and weaknesses. When I answered a question incorrectly I would go back and restudy the material that I needed to develop more understanding in. I recently discovered that some employers use these scores when hiring for positions. I probably would have handled the testing differently if I had known that previous to starting this certification. I have future plans to complete the TESOL certification and the CELTA.
