This unit highlights the students needs when learning a new language. Students ,as well, need to be introduced to the new language in a balanced and managed way with consideration of the students' levels and needs. Then the unit goes on discussing the procedures for introducing the different aspects of a new language: vocabulary, grammar and functions. First it discusses introducing vocabulary; the factors of how easy or difficult vocabulary is, how to select appropriate vocabulary, what students need to know about vocabulary items and the techniques for vocabulary teaching. Then, the unit discusses how grammatical structures are introduced and the techniques of teaching them. Finally, it moves to discuss the language functions and how to introduce them.
