This unit was full of new information for me. I have gained new knowledge on how to teach pronunciation and phonology. What I found the most interesting was the sections addressing the way we use \"stress\" in the English language. The way we stress one word in the same sentence can change its entire meaning. As a native English speaker this is something we do not realize and we expect other English speakers to infer and understand what we are trying to communicate. I now understand how this could be challenging for a non-English speaker. This is something I hope to emphasize as a teacher as well as phonetic spellings. The phonetic symbols are a little cumbersome for me as a native English speaker but could prove to be very helpful for my future students.
